A Call to Soldiers of the Cross

I do not know how accurate this is, but I recently read a report that said approximately 95% of people who say they believe in Jesus do not seek His guidance in their daily lives through the scriptures, prayer or godly counsel. The report also indicated that those same individuals do not even attempt to honor God by faithfully observing His instructions for life, and give no thought to the life that follows this temporary earth life.

Whether or not this is a reliable report or not, it should at least give us pause for reflection upon our own commitment to the Lordship of Jesus, especially as we are now ending one calendar year and preparing to enter a new one.  Are we falling in step with His plans and purposes or are we doing our own thing?

I am hearing by the Spirit that God is raising up a remnant of OVERCOMERS who will  in fact follow the Captain of the Lords Army into the various battle arenas that He designates, and drive out darkness with light.  Are you one?  Are you one in training?

OVERCOMERS are defined in Revelation 12:11  – And they overcame him (the accuser, liar, destroyer) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and THEY DID NOT LOVE THEIR LIVES UNTO DEATH.

A GOOD SOLDIER, defined as: You therefore must ENDURE HARDSHIP as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier (2 Timothy 2:3 – 2:4)

Are you a good soldier? Or are you one who wants to be a good soldier?  Consider enlisting in  Endtime Warrior Bootcamp.  Bootcamp will NOT be teaching that takes you nowhere, and leaves you just the same as you started.   Bootcamp will provide opportunities for active PARTICIPATION. Bootcamp will provide opportunities for development of your giftings and development of strategies for your unique assignments.

God intensely desires to heal and restore His creation.  All of creation is groaning for this to be.  One day there will be a restoration of all things (Acts 3:21) And it is in that day that the Kingdom becomes completely visible.

Currently, restoration happens first on the inside of individuals, and then on the outside. And then as people cooperate with God restoration can be released into realms beyond – like family, business and governmental realms etc.  Restoration can be seen and known.

As AMBASSADORS of the Kingdom we can and should be ready to minister freedom and the hope of restoration, whenever and wherever we find opportunity and quickening.

We proclaim in prayer and in personal encounters:

1. FREEDOM FROM DEMONIC POWER, CONTROL AND INFLUENCE: Study Ephesians 2:2; Colossians 2:15; 1 John 3:18)  Demonic influence and manipulation is the force behind ALL lawlessness.

2. FREEDOM FROM SIN’S POWER AND CONSEQUENCES                  These consequence are death, punishment, and eternal separation from God.(See: Romans 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:4-9; Colossians 2:13-14; 1 John 1:7-9)

3. FREEDOM FROM CONDEMNATION, GUILT AND SHAME:             Study: Romans 8:1; John 3:17-18; John 8:11)

Since Jesus is the Word made flesh, the Word comes to heal and deliver. Look at Ps 107:20  He sent forth His Word and healed them, and delivered them from all their destructions

It is not our word or words that bring the healing and deliverance, rather His word.  We must stick with His words.

In Exodus 15:26 these words are recorded:  I am the Lord that heals thee.  Since, God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18) and since He never changes (Hebrews 13:8) we can rest assured that when His word meets faith it WILL accomplish what He said it would.

As we encourage others to receive and implant the word in the heart, we can assure them that they will they receive healing and freedom, and will progressively become more whole.

We must always stress the necessity of renewing the mind and heart, so that transformation can come.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:18, 20 as NEW CREATIONS, we have been given an assignment, AMBASSADORSHIP, from the King of Glory and for the Kingdom of God.

“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and GAVE US the ministry of reconciliation, Therefore, we are AMBASSADORS for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

I have noticed over the years that when someone first enters new life in Christ there is a zeal that is unmatched. It is as if you cannot stop them from bubbling over  and sharing the truth and freedom they have encountered.  They don’t even have to be told that they have an assignment.

But, over the years LIFE HAPPENS, and as trials come and go, enthusiasm for the things of God often begins to wane.  Weeds of worries begin choke out the assignment of ambassadorship.

Life can easily become routine,  drudgery, a struggle for survival in the race (the rat race) of earthly life.  If we pray, we mostly pray survival prayers instead of revival prayers.

There is great need for the honor of the ministry that the The King of Kings has given us to be recaptured, so joy  can be rekindled. WE are the carriers of the message and the power of salvation, deliverance and healing.  We have received His ministry.  We have received the favor and approval  of the King. We do not need the affirmation, or validation,  from men to obey the instructions of the King.

Just as Jesus came to preach, proclaim and announce deliverance and favor (Luke 4:18-19) we are to do the same.  Jesus was about His Father’s business.  And we must be also.

We have “truth-treasures” that others have great need of….FREEDOM, VICTORY, FORGIVENESS, RELEASE FROM PAIN, purpose and a future.

Today and everyday ask God for at least one person in whom to plant a seed of truth.

Deliverance is initiated by God, not us. It is NOT our responsibility to run around trying to get everyone delivered.  It is our responsibility to discern what God wants to do and when. Not everyone has reached the point of willingness, readiness, or faith.  That is what is needed by every person.  God is always ready, but people are not. Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit not the needs.  He did what the Father told Him or showed Him. See John 5:19 And He was always looking for faith, not problems.

Here is an important passage from Psalm 107:10-14

“There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in misery and chains; because they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.  Therefore,He humbled their hearts with labor; they stumbled and there was none to help.

Then they cried out tot he Lord in their trouble; He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke the bands apart.”

Describe the scene:

1. Discuss why the people were in those conditions:

2. Discuss what God did, or allowed and why:

3. Describe the results:

This passage demonstrates how God uses circumstance to bring people to the point of deliverance.  Remember there has to be deliverance before restoration. And there has to be a strong cry of faith to touch God for help.

No other scenario will provide the atmosphere to release the delivering, healing and restorative power of God into an individual or family.

As one who is going forth to “set the captives free” we must have a deep TRUST in the word of God that restoration is part of God’s plan not only people but for the earth itself.

The greek word for restoration is katartizo.  It means to adjust, finish, to put a thing in appropriate condition; to establish, set up and equip.  It also means to bring back to a former condition or position; reinstatement and RESTITUTION.

Restoration truly is God’s plan.  We must desire this for our own life and for everyone we encounter.

In the beginning we were created for wholeness, intimate communion with God, safe relationships with others and to reflect His glory.

He wants us to personally press forward for full restoration and bring and that good news to others.

Restated:

  • We were created for:
  • Wholeness….not brokenness
  • Intimate communication with God and people….not isolation and loneliness.
  • To reflect God’s Glory…..not be absorbed by darkness.

In Leviticus 6 we learn that God established regulations regarding restoration at the human level.  Verses. 4-6 say that if a person is found guilty of stealing, extortion, or swearing falsely about a matter he must restore full value of what was lost and add 1/5 to it (20% more). That was a basic human regulation regarding restoration.

Now we learn in Job 42:10 That God restored double what Job lost in the extreme trial he lived through. Notice that his personal restoration was tied to his praying for those friends who had accused him, betraying friendship, in his distress.

Let’s get hold of the reality of God’s heart for full restoration!  This is a vital truth and part of the good news….the message we bring to those to whom we minister.

It is the mission of Jesus to set captives free (Luke 4:18). Amazingly, He allows us to “get in on it”.  He commissioned His first disciples to go in His authority and anointing, representing Himself upon the earth.  He authorizes us to do the same.  The task is simple, or is it?

We do not have to be totally healed or mature, to be used.  We do need a heart that identifies with the heart of God for broken people and broken humanity in general.  We have to have conquered the fear risking making a mistake.  We must remain teachable, alert, and yielded to the various nuances of the Spirit.

Do we believe in full restoration? Or do we believe like an “old saint” communicated with me long ago (and I believe erroneously), “If you mess us, you have lost your chance for your full destiny to be realized.”  (This was based on one verse, vs. 6, in Hebrews 6).  I personally stayed in bondage for a very long time, in part due to that verse being misused.   I thought it was impossible to come back on course through repentance.

See that teaching totally ignored the many examples contained in scripture of individuals who messed up badly, but were redeemed and restored.

In your notes, identify some bible characters who really “blew it” and were subsequently  restored.  What are the life-applications.

Have you ever studied biblical restoration?  I highly recommend it. Look up these scriptures and write them out.  Record specific things the Spirit communicates to your spirit.

Especially read and meditate on the following verses:

Galatians 6:1

Acts 3:21

Acts 15:16

Joel 2:25

Psalm 23:3

Psalm 51:12

Job 42:10

Make notes of your own insights on these verses and others that you look up.

IN GOD THERE ARE NO DEAD ENDS….THERE IS HOPE OF RESTORATION.

INSIGHTS AND INSPIRATION #6

I call this mini-lesson “training for the trenches”.

There is a truth that must be embraced  from the onset  of “training for the trenches”. Your personal life and relationship with the Lord MUST be carefully guarded, maintained and become progressively more consistent in your daily affairs.  The transformation of your inner man into the full stature of Christ must be your top priority, not ministry.

Remember two things up front:  Jesus’ disciples returned to Him with exuberance because they had experienced first hand that demons were under their authority.  Jesus, told them NOT TO REJOICE in that, but rather to rejoice knowing that their names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20)  Putting ministry before your personal growth and relationship with God will always prove disastrous.

The second thing pertaining to this issue is to remember that Paul also recognized the potential  for “missing it” when he stated “I run to win…I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached (or ministered) to others, I myself will not be DISQUALIFIED”. (1 Cor. 9:27).

Take nothing for granted in your relationship with the Lord.

It is a characteristic of human nature to want to appear bigger, better, more important, more influential, more significant than we are in the natural.  (The reality is that in God’s plan we are MUCH more significant than we can imagine.)  NOT KNOWING how significant we really are,  is one reason that many people unconsciously try to find their identity in what they “do”, the role(s) they play in life, more than discovering who they really are, from God’s point of view.

One thing for sure, though, God has a way of removing or changing our roles in life.  Eventually we will have to face the fact that WE ARE NOT what we do, or what we have.

In general, many people are also very prone to hide behind the various roles, or masks, in order to prevent others from seeing personal pain, brokenness, insecurity, and other unresolved issues.  Fear of rejection and ridicule are strong motivations for this kind of behavior.

Certainly, not everyone can be trusted with our deepest struggles, but we must be in touch with our own issues and wrestle through with the Word and Spirit to a place of freedom, healing, and wholeness. Honesty, not denial, is what we want for  others and it is what God wants in us.

Here is an assignment: Write a paragraph without any use of reference material, no bible, no internet, no book, to describe to yourself and for yourself who you truly believe God created you to be be.  You are unique.  What does that actually look like.

[If you struggle with this, you can ask yourself questions like:

1.Why did God create me as a unique individual?

2.What seed of purpose and destiny did He plant within me?

3.What am I like when no one is watching me?]

After you have done the assignment, test it against revealed truth in the Bible.

You can always provide a comment to let me know what you learned.

The Hebrew word for salvation is y shuw ah, #3444 in the Strong’s Concordance. It means:

  • VICTORY
  • AID
  • PROSPERITY
  • HEALTH
  • WELFARE

In the New Testament there are two words for salvation.  Strong’s #4991 soteria  and #4982  #4982  sozo .  These two words have these English implications:

  • DELIVERANCE FROM DANGER (see Hebrews11:7)
  • DELIVERANCE FROM SLAVERY (see Acts 7:25)
  • DELIVERANCE FROM ENEMIES (see Luke 1:77)
  • DELIVERANCE FROM DEMONS
  • DELIVERANCE FROM IMPENDING PERIL
  • DELIVERANCE FROM SICKNESS
  • DELIVERANCE FROM ETERNAL DEATH AND PUNISHMENT
  • WELFARE
  • PROSPERITY*
  • VICTORY (BY IMPLICATION, ESPECIALLY FROM DEFEAT IN BATTLE)
  • VICTORY FROM SIN’S POWER AND CONSEQUENCES OF SIN  (see Luke 1:77;  Luke 19:9)

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Meditate upon all of these varied expressions and provisions of salvation with thanksgiving and praise. (Taking time to do this will help put roots down in your own heart, which gives greater confidence in your personal life and in ministry.)

2. Make a list of situations and circumstances where the different aspects of salvation are needed.

Consider all areas of life:

  • PHYSICAL
  • MENTAL
  • EMOTIONAL RELATIONAL/SOCIAL
  • SPIRITUAL
  • FINANCIAL
  • OCCUPATIONAL

Get SALVATION (the gift or grace) deeply rooted in your heart, mind, words and life.  Jesus came to SET US FREE.               John 8:32  …Know TRUTH….TRUTH shall set you free.

It is really amazing to see all the benefits of salvation.  We have a great opportunity to deepen our faith and to assist others in believing that the work of salvation, by Jesus on the cross and through the resurrection, makes victory possible in EVERY AREA of life.

We are to believe and enforce victory in our own life. We do not have to come short of complete deliverance.  There is no situation, whether a habit, a need or a problem, that the grace of salvation cannot intervene with deliverance, welfare and prosperity.

The final thought today is this, salvation in our soul and in all other areas of life is a process.  In Philippians 2:12-13 we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, because God is working within us to WILL AND DO His good pleasure.

Do you see it?   1) it is a “work-out” 2) it is a partnership between the individual and God.
